History
On the 1st of November 2021 the Colony Bees Association established as a registered Australian charity.
Current memberships:
- International Federation of Beekeepers Associations (Apimondia) - 2025
- International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) - 2026
Mission
The Colony Bees Association mission is to protect honeybee wildlife, and to keep culture strong.
Our objectives:
- To advance knowledge of bees,
- To advance bee culture,
- To advance the protection of honeybees and their habitat.
- To advance research of the bee.
State of the Bee Report
The State of the Bee Report 2025 defines a path for the recognition, protection, and cultivation of wild Honeybees and their habitat.
With research from leading apiculture experts, including Thomas Seeley, the Colony Bees Association’s founding report aligns with international best practices to deliver Australia’s first dedicated resource for wild bee conservation.
The report advances three key recommendations:
- Wild honeybee conservation
- Medicinal apiculture
- Indigenous wisdom and creativity
